Georgia’s largest and oldest barbecue competition (Nov. 5 & 6) attracts 20,000 hungry spectators to watch more than 100 teams compete at cooking up pork shoulders and rib, kettles of Brunswick stew, barbecue sauce and barbecued chicken. Then, they eat. Competition barbecue cost $5 per serving while it lasts. The event began in 1982, and today includes a major arts and crafts festival plus a boisterous battle of the bands.
